The FC Pittsburgh U9 and U10 Boys swept the 2014 SporTrak Holiday Indoor Tournament on Saturday, December 27. Both Coach Steve and Coach Alex led their respective players to the Championship Match, where in a head to head all FC Pittsburgh final, Coach Alex's U10 team earned the win.

Chet Gapczynski and Chris Karwoski, the girls and boys respective coaching directors, attended the NSCAA Director of Coaching School in December and earned their higher education diplomas. Many of the concepts presented at the school by the NSCAA Staff are of great value to developing a high quality soccer club and will be looked at to over time be implemented by our Staff. FC Pittsburgh is committed to continuing our education to be able to provide the highest levels of service and soccer knowledge to our players, families, and our soccer community.
The FC Pittsburgh U12G team took second place at the Erie Premier Sports Holiday Classic Tournament. The team went into the Semi-finals as the third seed, but took down the second seeded team easily with a 3-1 victory to get a slot in the finals. They fought hard and gave a great effort.
FC Pittsburgh’s U13 and U14 boys’ gold teams, coached by Nate Richter, recently volunteered at World Vision, an organization devoted to providing the world’s under-privileged with clothing and other items.The boys sorted, folded, and boxed clothes that will be distributed to locations across the globe.The event provided a chance for the team to socialize while giving their time to serve those in need.
Under the leadership of Coach Sean Glackin and Assistant Coach Bobby Gordon, the U14B Black team finished in first place at the EDL Columbus Day Tournament in Williamsburg, VA. The boys posted a perfect weekend with a 4-0-0 record, scoring 20 goals while maintaining a defensive shut-out in the most competitive U14B division. The team started the tournament with a 5-0 win, followed by a 10-0 win to advance to semi-finals where they won 2-0. They continued to fight hard in the finals against the home team and won 3-0. Congratulations to Coach Sean, Coach Bobby and their U14B Black Team for an outstanding effort!
The FCP GU12 Team participated in their first Annual Holiday Fun Giving Event on Friday, December 12 supporting a family with eight children who lost their home to a fire in October. The team donated funds for the event, and then the players had a group shopping trip to Target to purchased gifts for the family.
The players had fun wrapping the gifts, and they felt good about making the holiday fun for a family in need.
FC Pittsburgh U10 girls took second place at the Erie Premier Holiday Soccer Tournament over the Christmas holiday. Under Coach Chet Gapczynski, the girls were undefeated through three games allowing no goals. They advanced to the championship game playing awesome against a challenging team. The girls were rewarded for a great tournament with a second place trophy. Coach Chet told the girls they played hard, they worked together as a team and most important, they had fun. Congratulations to the U10 Girls!
Under the leadership of Coach Ale Moreira, the U12G gold team finished in first place at the EDL Columbus Day Tournament in Williamsburg, VA. The girls posted a perfect weekend with a 4-0-0 record, scoring 18 goals while maintining a defensive shut-out in the most competitive U12G division. The team started the tournament with a 1-0 win, and then took it to another level of synergy when they defeated the other major tournament competitor in the third game with an 5-0 win. They played the same team in the finals and defeated them again with a score of 4-0. Congratulations to Coach Ale and his U12G Gold Team for an outstanding effort!
A few spots are available on the GIRLS U16 and U18 teams. Interested players should attend the Indoor Winter Training held on Thursday evenings at the RMU Island Sports Center Bubble. The teams train from 9:15 pm - 10:15 pm. Tryouts will continue until all spots are filled. The U9 boys team played at the Cincy Challenge over the Columbus Day Weekend. Under Coach Steve Oberle, the boys won their bracket by going undefeated through three games, allowing only one goal. They advanced to the championship and played very well against a challenging opponent. The team was rewarded for their efforts with second place in the silver division and were reminded that they did something very special for a team in their first season together. Coach Steve said, " I am very proud of this young and talented group of boys. They worked together as a team and executed their game plan." Congratulations to the U9 Boys!
Under the leadership of Coach Nathan Richter, the FC Pittsburgh U12 Gold boy’s team finished in second place at the Nike Cup Challenge, in Dublin, OH. Led by a stifling defense, they were undefeated in round-robin play, giving up an average of only one goal per game while scoring a total of seven goals. In the finals, FC Pittsburgh found itself down 2-0 early in the first half battling a strong headwind, but the team came back strong in the second half to tie the score 2-2. The teams played two 5-minute overtimes and the score remained tied. The game was ultimately decided by a challenge of penalty kicks, but unfortunately the team lost the shootout 3-4 earning FC Pittsburgh a well-deserved second place finish. Congratulations to Coach Nate and his U12 Gold Team.
Goalkeeper training is being offered for all goalies at the RMU Bubble Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Coach Mark will train Wednesdays from 8:30 pm - 9:40 pm. Coach Maria will train Thursdays from 8:15 pm - 9:15 pm. Training begins the week of Nov. 12.
