FC Pittsburgh is pleased to announce that Coach Alessandro Moreira has been named Technical Director of Coaching. Coach Ale has been with FC Pittsburgh since its inception in 2008 and has been instrumental in the training and coaching of our young players. He brings many years of experience of not only coaching, but playing professional soccer in both Brazil and Costa Rica.
“Coach Ale has earned his mark of loyalty and commitment to FC Pittsburgh and must be rewarded for his great investment and commitment to youth soccer in both our region and our Club,” said Director of Girls Coaching, Chet Gapczynski.
Beginning this spring Coach Ale will start his new role by running technical sessions for all current FC Pittsburgh players on Wednesday nights at our Cornell Location from 7-8:30 pm. This is an additional option for our players and will be offered at no cost. In addition, FC Pittsburgh will begin to aggressively build our Academy and Coach Ale will take on this task as his chief responsibility in his new role. Although Coach Ale’s new role will be an ongoing evolution, the role of the Technical Director for our Club will be:
To conduct age appropriate Technical Training
To conduct skill development clinics and training sessions for players and coaches
To create long and short term seasonal and yearly objectives with regard to age groups and skill development
To help coaches plan and implement practice sessions
To act as a resource for all coaches and players in FC Pittsburgh
The Spring Academy will run for six Friday evenings beginning April 10. It will be held at Frank Letteri Stadium (Cornell Field) on Friday nights from 6-7:30 pm. Cost for the six weeks is $125. Boys and girls ages 6-12 are welcome to attend.
The FC Pittsburgh U9 and U10 Boys swept the 2014 SporTrak Holiday Indoor Tournament on Saturday, December 27. Both Coach Steve and Coach Alex led their respective players to the Championship Match, where in a head to head all FC Pittsburgh final, Coach Alex's U10 team earned the win.

Chet Gapczynski and Chris Karwoski, the girls and boys respective coaching directors, attended the NSCAA Director of Coaching School in December and earned their higher education diplomas. Many of the concepts presented at the school by the NSCAA Staff are of great value to developing a high quality soccer club and will be looked at to over time be implemented by our Staff. FC Pittsburgh is committed to continuing our education to be able to provide the highest levels of service and soccer knowledge to our players, families, and our soccer community.
The FC Pittsburgh U12G team took second place at the Erie Premier Sports Holiday Classic Tournament. The team went into the Semi-finals as the third seed, but took down the second seeded team easily with a 3-1 victory to get a slot in the finals. They fought hard and gave a great effort.
Under the leadership of Coach Sean Glackin and Assistant Coach Bobby Gordon, the U14B Black team finished in first place at the EDL Columbus Day Tournament in Williamsburg, VA. The boys posted a perfect weekend with a 4-0-0 record, scoring 20 goals while maintaining a defensive shut-out in the most competitive U14B division. The team started the tournament with a 5-0 win, followed by a 10-0 win to advance to semi-finals where they won 2-0. They continued to fight hard in the finals against the home team and won 3-0. Congratulations to Coach Sean, Coach Bobby and their U14B Black Team for an outstanding effort!
FC Pittsburgh U10 girls took second place at the Erie Premier Holiday Soccer Tournament over the Christmas holiday. Under Coach Chet Gapczynski, the girls were undefeated through three games allowing no goals. They advanced to the championship game playing awesome against a challenging team. The girls were rewarded for a great tournament with a second place trophy. Coach Chet told the girls they played hard, they worked together as a team and most important, they had fun. Congratulations to the U10 Girls!

They played the same team in the finals and defeated them again with a score of 4-0. Congratulations to Coach Ale and his U12G Gold Team for an outstanding effort!
The U9 boys team played at the Cincy Challenge over the Columbus Day Weekend. Under Coach Steve Oberle, the boys won their bracket by going undefeated through three games, allowing only one goal. They advanced to the championship and played very well against a challenging opponent. The team was rewarded for their efforts with second place in the silver division and were reminded that they did something very special for a team in their first season together. Coach Steve said, " I am very proud of this young and talented group of boys. They worked together as a team and executed their game plan." Congratulations to the U9 Boys!

Indoor Goalkeeper Training
Goalkeeper training is being offered for all goalies at the RMU Bubble Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Coach Mark will train Wednesdays from 8:30 pm - 9:40 pm. Coach Maria will train Thursdays from 8:15 pm - 9:15 pm. Training begins the week of Nov. 12.
