Chet Gapcyznski is a co-founder of FCP Pittsburgh, a member of the Board of Directors, the FCP 1995-1996 girls’ head coach, the 1999 girls head coach for the Olympic Development Program. He also is working closely with Chris Karwoski on the new approach to academy development spearheaded by FC Pittsburgh and its corporate sponsor, Esmark Corporation.
Gapcyznski holds a USSF National “B” level license and is a regional staff coach for the Olympic Development Program in the eastern United States. Gapcyznski plans to sit for his “A” license during the summer of 2011.
Gapcyznski has coached for over 30 years, starting in upstate New York during the 1980s and moving to the Pittsburgh region in the early 1990s. He has served as Club President, Director of Coaching and Head Coach. The academic institutions he has been affiliated with throughout his career include Lima Christian Academy High School, New Life Academy High School, Bishop Gibbons High School, Franklin Regional High School and North Allegheny High School. At the club level, he has been affiliated with Penns Forest, International Football Club and Pittsburgh Football Club.
During Gapcyznski’s coaching career, his teams have consistently reached the playoffs with 9 finishes in the silver or gold category in western Pennsylvania state competitions. He has coached both boys and girls teams, has participated for 3 years in the prestigious Director’s League and has been a frequent visitor to the WPIAL playoffs. His team’s tournament record across the east coast and Mid-Atlantic States boasts 7 gold medals and 3 silver medals.
