Coach Chet Gapczynski
Director of Coaching - Girls

Coach Chet played through high school, college and the semi-pro/amateur ranks in the Upstate NY region. He began his

coaching career in 1980 as an assistant and in 1984, took his first head position in Schenectady, NY. Since then,

Coach Chet has coached U6 - U21 ages at many levels including Premier Club, ODP, State Teams, State Jr. Olympic

  Games, and High School.

Chet is one of the founders of FC Pittsburgh serving as president and Director of Girls Coaching.

Coach Chet’s perspectives can be summed up in these thoughts:

“Coaching for me is not merely a love for the sport, but more importantly

a love for young people and a strong desire to impact their lives.”

“What we do is revolve our life around kicking a ball.  There simply must be much more

to this whole thing than merely that!  It is the life lessons that kicking the ball encompasses

that make this avenue important.”

“It is not winning the game, but learning to be winners.”

“It is not scoring the goal, saving the goal or beating the opponent that is important,

but rather the lesson that in order to succeed in life, there is a high level of commitment

to the process that equips you for that challenge.”

“It is about a path that must be walked to achieve success.”

“If I can aid in all of the realities this journey holds for a young person,

then I have made soccer much more than kicking a ball.  This is my Goal!”
