Boys Director of Coaching
Coach Chris Karwoski serves as the FC Pittsburgh Boys Director of Coaching and was recently named to the PA West ODP coaching staff. Karwoski was recently the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh’s Division I Men’s Soccer Program. From 1998-2008, Karwoski was a Division I Head Coach at Western Michigan University where he ranks as the second longest tenured soccer coach in the school’s history (11 seasons). Among many accolades at WMU, Karwoski earned MAC Coach of the Year in 2003, along with the MAC Tournament crown and WMU’s first and only berth in the NCAA College Cup in that same year. Coach Chris has over 22 seasons of Men’s Collegiate Division 1 coaching experience.
Coach Chris has also been involved in youth soccer of all ages in Michigan and PA, coaching young players at the community level, leading his Premier Club team to an MRL Regional Championship and the National Super Y Championships appearance, and has served as an ODP coach in both Region 1 and Region 2. As a player, Coach Chris was a standout at the University of Vermont, helping the team to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight in 1989 and Captain of the 1990 NAC Championship team. He also played professionally and semi-professionally for the San Diego Nomads, Forfar Albion of the Scottish Third Div., and the Polonia Falcons of Connecticut.
